Published another video of a product. There is still a lot of room for improvement in terms of content and text, but hopefully viewers will forgive me on the condition that progress continues!
This time, I’m taking out of the box and using the Pocket pocket-sized video magnifier (SKU 9791).
It is a compact portable video magnifier that allows you to examine interesting objects on a 90mm diagonal color screen using 2x / 4x / 8x / 16x or 25x digital magnification. In addition, the device allows you to capture images of the object being examined, and the captured photos can be later viewed on a computer, TV, or the device itself.
To use the device, the following items are included in the box: an adapter, a video cable, a USB cable, a protective case, a cleaning cloth, and a user manual. Additionally, you will need to purchase 3x AAA batteries and a microSD card (not microUSB, as mentioned repeatedly in the video!). Once the batteries are inserted, the device starts working smoothly, and it is easy to use with the buttons located next to the screen and on the sides. Separate buttons are available for magnification (in steps), capturing images, and playback. There is also a button to change the screen color scheme from color to black and white and to display colors in negative.
The photos taken with the device and saved on the microSD card are in JPG format and relatively small, 640 x 480 pixels. It should be noted that the device has a shallow depth of field, and the image is only sharp when the device is placed on a flat surface. The quality of the captured photos is not the same as when using a DSLR camera, but it is sufficient for documenting the situation or getting an overview.
The object being observed is constantly illuminated, and the intensity of the light cannot be adjusted. For example, when observing coins, this can create a lot of reflective surfaces, which in turn interfere with capturing the screen image and later viewing it. However, with stamps, this problem may be smaller or even non-existent, as printing surfaces and paper reflect light less.
Another important factor to consider is the magnification. The device magnifies the observed object minimally by 2x. Due to the aforementioned shallow depth of field and fixed position, larger objects may not fit entirely within the field of view, and therefore may not fit entirely into the captured image. This is especially true when using maximum magnification. Here are some test photos:
The video magnifier can be connected to a computer using the provided USB cable to transfer the captured photos to the computer. Additionally, the device can be connected to a monitor using the provided video cable to view the captured photos there. The latter may not be very relevant as a small-sized photo may not appear sharp enough on a large screen.
In conclusion, it is a user-friendly and portable device. As a user, I see it being useful for people who want to conveniently capture images of small objects (coins, stamps, jewelry) at trade shows and gatherings, which can be used later for decision-making. For closer examination of objects, it is worth considering purchasing a strong magnifying glass or microscope, both of which are available in SAFE’s product range.
