In 1979, E&T Kointainer started the development of an inert, museum-quality, double-pocket coin flips. To offer collectors an alternative to the dangerous vinyl pouches that could damage the coin. As a result of this development work, the SAFLIP® coin pocket made of pure MYLAR® polyester resin was launched in 1980. The SAFLIP coin pouch was later improved to make it more foldable and airtight in cases where the collector decides to “weld” the pouch shut. In addition, acid and sulphur free information labels were developed, which could be inserted into one of the two pockets if desired. Millions of SAFLIP pockets have been purchased since 1980. They are used by collectors, dealers and museums to store coins safely.
